Natural beauty will win the title of Mr. and Miss JuneFest on June 9 during the 5th Annual JuneFest in downtown Ackerman. Girls and boys ages 0-12th grade must register in one of six categories by May 18 to participate. The attire will consist of a JuneFest t-shirt and shorts or skirt. Natural beauty only, no glamour allowed. Points will be deducted for excessive hair or makeup. Registration fee is $30 which includes the JuneFest t-shirt. The 20th Century Club is sponsoring the Mr. and Miss JuneFest as a fundraiser for their community service projects. The competition will take place Saturday, June 9 at 2 p.m. at the pavilion in downtown Ackerman. Contestants will be called on stage during the reading of their bio information. There will be no rehearsal and the competition’s JuneFest t-shirts should be picked up at the 20th Century booth at JuneFest. Susan Shurden, 20th Century member, encourages everyone to participate. “Mr. and Miss JuneFest is something everyone can participate in. There are no extra costs,” said Shurden. The 20th Century Club is sponsoring the competition to add an event to JuneFest for children and teenagers. “It’s something to bridge the morning and evening activities,” said Shurden. The club is also sponsoring the Pet Show that morning and Bingo that night along with plenty more activities for everyone at JuneFest. Registration forms may be picked up at Pap’s Place or any 20th Century Club member.
