Choctaw County Soil and Water Conservation District, a member of the Mississippi Association of Conservation Districts (MACD), announces its annual call for applications for four scholarships to be awarded in January 2013. First place: $5,000. Second place: $4,000. Third place: $3,000. Fourth place: $2,000. These scholarship awards are open to any college sophomore, junior or senior enrolled in a college in the state of Mississippi. Applications will be evaluated based on student’s grade point averages, activities and leadership qualities, financial need and supporting materials. Any student may apply, no matter what field of study the student is pursuing; however, an applicant who has a conservation-related field of study will be automatically awarded extra points. MACD is a non-profit organization made up of the state’s 82 Soil and Water Conservation Districts who promote the conservation of Mississippi’s natural resources through education and outreach. The deadline for submitting applications is October 1, 2012.
