The Town of Ackerman is not required to redistrict after results from the 2010 Census. Toby Sanford with the Golden Triangle Planning and Development District presented the Ackerman Board of Aldermen their redistricting census numbers in their April 3 meeting. Ackerman has a deviation of 8.48 percent which is less than the 10 percent deviation required to redistrict. In the meeting, Sanford suggested moving ward lines on Louisville Street and near Tammy Street to make cleaner ward lines. He said the small changes do no affect any citizens. After a short discussion the board agreed to go with this proposed plan. No action is required at this time. The aldermen to adopt a resolution stating they would abide by required laws and guidelines for the redistricting and approved to hold a public hearing. The redistricting public hearing will be April 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the board room at Town Hall. The proposed redistricting plan may be viewed at the Ackerman Town Hall during business hours.
