The Lady Indians travelled to East Webster on March 20, 2012 for their first game after the Spring Break Holiday. Ackerman won the JV game 9 -1. Lindsay Bruce hit a triple in the game, along with Karina Brown and Dedra Pratt hitting singles. Haley Lucas was on the mound for the Indians, with Lindsay Bruce coming in to close for the Indians. Lindsay recorded 2 strikeouts to end the game. In the Varsity game, leadoff batter, Dayna Presley reached 1st base on a hit by the pitcher, but was left stranded on base with no runs scored. Emily Robison took the mound for the Indians. East Webster with 2 outs had a runner reach 1st on an error and was able to score a run on a double hit by the Wolverines Baily Williams. Bridgette Robinson caught a fly ball hit to center to end the inning with East Webster on top 1 – 0. Sarah Moss reached base in the 2nd inning drawing a walk but the Lady Indians still came up scoreless in the inning leave Moss on base. East Webster came to bat in the bottom of the 2nd, but the Indian defense ended the inning with bases loaded. In the 3rd, Bridgette Robinson reached 1st on an error. Karina Brown drew a walk. Robinson was thrown out at 3rd, but with 1 runner still on base, Dayna Presley hit a single and Sarah Boyles drew a walk to put runner in scoring position. Allison Cooper hit a single scoring 2 runs to take the lead 2 – 1 going into the bottom of the 3rd. Catcher, Autumn Frost for East Webster led off and hit a stand up double for the Wolverines. B. Williams drew a walk. With 2 on base for East Webster, 3rd baseman, Mamie Hollenhead, hit a single scoring Frost to tie the game at 2. The Indians were scoreless in the 4th inning leaving runners on base once again. East Webster started the inning with a base hit. The Indians stopped the next 2 batters. A. Frost reached base on an error scoring a run. Makenzie Toombs came in to pitch for the Indians with 2 on base. M. Hollenhead capitalized once again for the Wolverines with a triple scoring 2 before the Indians were able to end the inning. East Webster 5 Ackerman 2. In the 5th inning, the Lady Indians Allison Cooper and Sarah Moss both drew walks, but were left stranded on base. Toombs returned to the mound in the bottom of the 5th, leaving the Wolverines scoreless. The 6th inning was another scoreless inning for the Indians leaving a runner on base. Sarah Moss came in to pitch in the bottom of the 6th. The Indians defense stopped the Wolverines from executing with fly balls caught by shortstop Dayna Presley, 2nd baseman Vanessa Miller, and right fielder Sarah Bowles. The Indians had one last chance to try and add some runs to the score but East Webster’s 3rd baseman, Mamie Hollenhead shut the Indians down snagging hits for the outs to end the game. Final score East Webster 5 Ackerman 2 On, March 23rd, Ackerman travelled to Houston, MS. In JV action, Houston defeated the Indians 9 to 2 in 4 innings. Ackerman had hits from Haley Lucas, Kaitlin Jones, Haley Lampard, Cassie Price and Lindsay Bruce, all hitting singles. It was just not enough to execute many runs. In the 1st Varsity game, Ackerman played South Pontotoc. Emily Robison was on the mound for the Indians pitching a full game getting the win striking out 5 and only giving up 3 hits in the game. The Indians defeated S. Pontotoc 11 to 4. The Lady Indians had 10 hits in the game. Hits were made by Sarah Bowles, Makenzie Toombs (with 2 singles), Sarah Moss (with a 2RBI double and a single) Haley Lucas, Dayna Presley and Allison Cooper. In the last game of the evening, Houston was a little too much for the Indians as they were defeated by Houston 15 to 0. Makenzie Toombs and Emily Robison were the only 2 Indians to get hits in the game.
