Calendar of Events Food Drive for Broken Wings Ministry
A food drive to collect dried beans/peas (any variety) and peanut butter for Broken Wings Ministry is underway.  Donations may be dropped off at the Choctaw County Extension Office in the Courthouse Annex or at Broken Wings.
Women’s Issues Support Group
Every Tuesday
A free Women’s Issues Support Group is being held every Tuesday at from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m.at Cissy’s Gym in Ackerman. The group is being led by Mickey Miller, Christian/consultant/facilitator. For more information call 662-861-9844. You do not have to be a member of the gym to join the group.
Cissy’s Gym also offers karate classes on Mondays and  Thursdays from 3:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. for kids and adults and offers PACE/stretch chair aerobics class  Monday-Friday  from 11 a.m.-noon. Call 705-0162 for more information.
Spaghetti Fundraiser
March 15
The  Lucky 13 4-H Club will host a Spaghetti or Hot Dog plate for lunch and dinner on Thursday, March 15. Spaghetti plates will consist of spaghetti, green beans, roll, and dessert. Hot Dog plates will consist of hot dog, chips, dill pickle, and dessert. Plates may be picked up at Ackerman Church of Christ starting at 11 a.m. and through dinner at 6 pm. For pre-orders and delivery in Ackerman, call 285-3445 or 744-2670.

Vegetable Production
March 15
Dr. Wayne Porter will discuss how to grow fruit and vegetables organically (via interactive video) Thursday, March 15 from noon-1 pm at the Choctaw County Extension Office. Basketball Tournament
March 16-17
Millspring M.B. Church will be hosting a Spring Basketball Tournament. This event will take place on Friday, March 16 at 6 pm and Saturday, March 17 at 10 am. The age for this tournament will be 16 to adult. There will be a $40 entry fee per team of up to 10 players. A $2 entry fee will be taken upon arrival for all non players. Any team wanting to play must represent their church. Revival at Bethany Baptist
March 17-20
Bethany Baptist Church invites everyone Revival Services on March 18-20 with Sunday morning service at 11 a.m., Sunday night service at 5 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday services at 7 p.m. Rev. William “Bud” Reaves, a retired minister from New Albany, will be the guest speaker. Kick-off for Revival with dinner and a movie (“Courageous”) on Saturday, March 17 beginning at 5 p.m. For more information contact Rev. Gospel Singing
March 17, 7 p.m.
The Stewart Fire Dept. on Hwy 82 in Stewart will have a gospel singing on March 17 at 7 p.m. Featured singers will include: Master Quartet, Hearts Desire, and Revelations. Everyone is welcome to come join us, bring your family, friends, and church groups. Admission is free but love offering received for group singing. Concessions will be available. Miller-Coleman-Satterfield Foundation, Inc. Family Heritage Celebration
March 17
The Millers-Colemans-Satterfields Foundation, Inc. will host its Annual Family Heritage Celebration on Saturday, March 17 at Mt. Salem United Methodist Church in French Camp.  Reverend Tyrone Edwards of Southaven (formerly of Weir) will be the keynote speaker.  
The theme is ”Celebrating the Legacy of the Past as a Foundation for the Future”-(“Where there is no vision the people perish” Proverbs 29:17). Our honored guests will be widows and widowers. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Benefit for Sandra Smith
March 17
A benefit for Sandra Smith will be held 4 p.m. at the Sherwood Community Center. Entertainment features “Long Way to Go,” “Josh Buford” and others. Boston butt sale $25 (prepaid) to be picked up from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Plates will be sold at event, also. Cake walk and other activities, too. Come join the fun and fellowship!
Spaghetti Dinner/Fundraiser
March 17
Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Women will be having a Spaghetti Dinner/Fundraiser on March 17, donation $6. Dinner will be ready by 11 a.m. If the weather is permitting the youth will have a car wash starting at 9 a.m., donation $10 at 150 East Pine Street in Ackerman.
NAACP meeting
March 19, 6 p.m.
The NAACP of Choctaw Co. meeting will be held on Monday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Herman UMC in Ackerman. Please come out and attend our meeting! New members are welcome.
Marriage Education-Introductory Seminar
March 20
An introductory marriage seminar, 8 Habits of a Successful Marriage, will be presented March 20 at Mt. Hermon/Rockport UMC at 6:30 p.m. (@ Mt. Hermon UMC) by instructor Dr. Miller/Rev. Gillespie. 4-H Forestry
March 21
4-H Forestry practice will begin Wednesday, March 21 at 3:30 pm at the Choctaw County Extension Office. Youth ages 10-18 interested in forestry are invited to attend. Gordon Family Reunion
March 25
The annual Gordon Family Reunion, descendants of William and Eliza Jane Farrar Gordon, will be held Sunday, March 25 at the Panhandle Community Center in Choctaw County. We will gather at 11 a.m. with lunch at noon followed by a cakewalk. You are also invited to attend worship services at Mt.Zion Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Family, friends and neighbors are invited to attend.
Tombstone Images and Symbols
March 26
“Tombstone Images and Symbols” will be the topic of the March 26 Choctaw County Historical & Genealogical Society meeting. Margie Gilmer and Marian McCulloch will present the program at noon at the Choctaw County Library. The public is invited to attend. Triad Council Meeting
March 27, noon
The Triad Council will meet on Tuesday, March 27 at noon. The meeting will be held at the Weir Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall on Martin Luther King Blvd in Weir. Come and enjoy the fellowship with friends, if the weather permits.
Triad is the agreement of Law Enforcement Agencies in the County and older or retired persons in the community working together to reduce the criminal victimization of the elderly and the disabled persons in the county. Triad works to reduce crime for everyone.
Mother Anita Terrell from Louisville with the Tri C Disease Coalition Training MS State Department of Health Diabetes Prevention & Control Program has been invited to attend our meeting with important facts on Diabetes.
The Triad Council will not be purchasing meals. Therefore the Triad Council Members will volunteer to bring a covered dish to enjoy fellowship with each other.
