Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce announces First Impressions Grant Program

By Press Reports

The Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce announces the First Impressions Grant Program. The Chamber has set aside a fixed amount of funds to assist applicants that seek to enhance the curbside appeal of the communities within the county.

The maximum single grant award that may be made is around $2,500 and matching funds of at least 30% of the total cost of the project are required. Projects that will improve the broad appeal of the community are preferred. Community service oriented organizations as well as municipal governments are encouraged to apply for assistance.

Items eligible for funding assistance include, but are not limited to, community beautification and enhancement projects, building repair/renovation and landscaping enhancements of facilities serving the community, community garden, park, or playground projects, and community clean up initiatives.

Grant applications will be accepted until March 30, 2012 for projects that will occur between April 3, 2012 and August 31, 2012 . All decisions regarding awarding or not awarding grants are made at the sole discretion of the Choctaw County Economic Development Foundation Board of Directors. Applicants will be notified of decisions no later than April 15, 2012. Projects must be completed and requests for reimbursement submitted by August 31, 2012.

Grant guidelines and application forms are available at the Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce office (J.P. Coleman building across from the courthouse). If you have any questions about the First Impressions Grant, please contact John Scott at 662-285-3778.
