Broken Wings
Ministry
A food drive to collect dried beans/peas (any variety) and peanut butter for Broken Wings Ministry is underway.  Donations may be dropped off at the Choctaw County Extension Office in the Courthouse Annex or at Broken Wings.
Women’s Issues Support Group
Every Tuesday
A free Women’s Issues Support Group is being held every Tuesday at from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m.at Cissy’s Gym in Ackerman. The group is being led by Mickey Miller, Christian/consultant/facilitator. For more information call 662-861-9844. You do not have to be a member of the gym to join the group.
Cissy’s Gym also offers karate classes on Mondays and  Thursdays from 3:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. for kids and adults and offers PACE/stretch chair aerobics class  Monday-Friday  from 11 a.m.-noon. Call 705-0162 for more information.
Vegetable
Gardening March 7
Want to learn how to grow vegetables in a home garden? If you do, then join us Wednesday, March 7 at 1 pm at Choctaw Farm Supply on Highway 15 in Ackerman. Dr. Jeff Wilson, Horticulture Agent with MSU Extension Service, will conduct the program. Controlling Weeds in the Home Lawn
March 8
If weeds were a problem last summer in your lawn, you’ll probably have problems again this year. Join us Thursday, March 8 from noon-1 pm as Dr. John Byrd tells how to control those pesky weeds. Interior Design 4-H Meeting March 9
Friday, March 9 will be a treat for those interested in learning more about Interior Design. Local Interior Design student, Shadow Cox, will share her love and knowledge of interior design. She will be sharing some of her projects and designs with the youth. The meeting will take place at 3:30 at the Choctaw County Extension Office. Additional meetings to follow at later dates. For more information contact Traci Mongeon, 4-H Agent at 285-6337.
American Legion Meeting
March 12
The American Legion Post 82 and Auxiliary will meet Monday, March 12 at the American Legion Building in Ackerman. We will observe the 93rd Anniversary at this meeting. We will eat at 6 p.m. with meeting at 6:30 p.m. All members and their families are invited to attend.
Spaghetti Fundraiser
March 15
The  Lucky 13 4-H Club will host a Spaghetti or Hot Dog plate for lunch and dinner on Thursday, March 15. Spaghetti plates will consist of spaghetti, green beans, roll, and dessert. Hot Dog plates will consist of hot dog, chips, dill pickle, and dessert. Plates may be picked up at Ackerman Church of Christ starting at 11 a.m. and through dinner at 6 pm. For pre-orders and delivery in Ackerman, call 285-3445 or 744-2670.
Organic Fruit & Vegetable Production

Tournament
March 16-17
Millspring M.B. Church will be hosting a Spring Basketball Tournament. This event will take place on Friday, March 16 at 6 pm and Saturday, March 17 at 10 am. The age for this tournament will be 16 to adult. There will be a $40 entry fee per team of up to 10 players. A $2 entry fee will be taken upon arrival for all non players. Any team wanting to play must represent their church. Revival and Movie Night at Bethany Baptist
March 17-20
Bethany Baptist Church invites everyone to a movie night, March 17, to watch Courgeous at 6 p.m. and small supper at 5 p.m. Revival is March 18-20 with Sunday morning service at 11 a.m., Sunday night service at 5 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday services at 7 p.m. Bro. Bud Reaves will hold the Revival. Bro. Kenneth Reaves invites everyone to Revival at Bethany Baptist Church, located at 2225 Reform-Sturgis Road.
NAACP meeting

The NAACP of Choctaw Co. meeting will be held on Monday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Herman UMC in Ackerman. Please come out and attend our meeting! New members are welcome.

Revival at Bethany Baptist
March 17-20
Bethany Baptist Church invites everyone Revival Services on March 18-20 with Sunday morning service at 11 a.m., Sunday night service at 5 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday services at 7 p.m. Rev. William “Bud” Reaves, a retired minister from New Albany, will be the guest speaker. Kick-off for Revival with dinner and a movie (“Courageous”) on Saturday, March 17 beginning at 5 p.m. For more information contact Rev. Benefit for Sandra Smith
March 17
A benefit for Sandra Smith will be held 4 p.m. at the Sherwood Community Center. Entertainment features “Long Way to Go,” “Josh Buford” and others. Boston butt sale $25 (prepaid) to be picked up from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Plates will be sold at event, also. Cake walk and other activities, too. Come join the fun and fellowship!
Spaghetti Dinner/Fundraiser and Car Wash
March 17
Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Women will be having a Spaghetti Dinner/Fundraiser on March 17, donation $6. Dinner will be ready by 11 a.m. If the weather is permitting the youth will have a car wash starting at 9 a.m., donation $10 at 150 East Pine Street in Ackerman.

Triad Council
Meeting
March 27, noon
The Triad Council will meet on Tuesday, March 27 at noon. The meeting will be held at the Weir Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall on Martin Luther King Blvd in Weir. Come and enjoy the fellowship with friends, if the weather permits.
Triad is the agreement of Law Enforcement Agencies in the County and older or retired persons in the community working together to reduce the criminal victimization of the elderly and the disabled persons in the county. Triad works to reduce crime for everyone.
Mother Anita Terrell from Louisville with the Tri C Disease Coalition Training MS State Department of Health Diabetes Prevention & Control Program has been invited to attend our meeting with important facts on Diabetes.
The Triad Council will not be purchasing meals. Therefore the Triad Council Members will volunteer to bring a covered dish to enjoy fellowship with each other.
French Camp
History
On Tuesday, March 13, “FC Historic Highlights” group will have their luncheon and meeting in the Fellowship Hall of the French Camp Presbyterian Church.  Lunch will be catered and served at noon, for a nominal $2 donation, followed by the meeting.  Ed Williford will be the speaker, and will discuss his recollections and experiences at French Camp over the years.  
Civil War Meeting
The Golden Triangle Civil War Round Table meets Tuesday, Mar. 13, at 7 p.m., in the Conference Room, Golden Triangle Planning and Development Building, 106 Miley Road, Starkville. Park and enter at the rear of the building. Speaker Jim Ogden, Chickamauga-Chattanooga National Military Park, will discuss “…the battle was ordered at daylight…  Longstreet at Chickamauga.” Everyone interested in Civil War history is welcome.
